Khamab Kalahari Workshop 2024

I have recently returned from leading C4 Photo Safaris' inaugural photography workshop in the remarkable Kalahari region. It was an exceptionally fulfilling experience. Beyond the incredible wildlife encounters and photographic prospects, the exclusivity of accessing a 95,000 hectare private reserve is truly remarkable. The Kalahari has always evoked a profound emotional response within me - the hue of the grass, the dust illuminating the light as a Lion treks across the crimson earth. And this workshop exceeded all of my expectations.

The Khamab Kalahari reserve offered us a remarkable opportunity to immerse ourselves in the vast and untamed landscape of the Kalahari, providing unparalleled experiences. Being able to explore this natural splendor, free from the crowds and distractions found in more popular destinations, allowed us to fully focus on capturing the essence of this unique ecosystem.

During our visit, we were fortunate to witness a variety of wildlife encounters. On the first afternoon, we were able to observe African Wild dogs. Additionally, we had several sightings of Lions and four male Cheetahs, which we photographed from a low perspective while on foot. The reserve also provided us with opportunities to observe White Rhino, Buffalo, and Elephant, as well as the typical Kalahari plains game, which we were able to capture in great images. We even saw Black Rhino and Brown Hyena from the Lodge.

The ability to experience the Kalahari's natural wonders in this intimate and undisturbed setting undoubtedly created memories and impressions that will be lasting and meaningful.

The photo workshop at the Khamab Kalahari reserve granted us the time and space to explore various angles and techniques, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the photographic essence of the Kalahari. The exceptional wildlife photography experience was a result of the unique semi-desert landscape and the reserve's thriving populations of charismatic predators and megafauna, which presented endless opportunities to capture captivating images that highlight the natural magnificence of this region in southern Africa.

I can’t wait to return to this rare photographic gem next year. Click here and check out our Khamab Kalahari Workshop for 2025!
